Sheffield Caterers cooking with passion from local sourced and grown produce

PJ Taste is a Sheffield based caterer and 100 seat meeting, event and dining venue owner in Attercliffe.  We create seasonally inspired food from local ingredients. Catering for business and corporate training courses, events, weddings, parties and celebrations in Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

PJ taste are Sheffield based caterers creating seasonally inspired food from local ingredients. We prepare a range of menus suitable for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.  With everything made from scratch by our award winning chefs our canapes receptions, buffet lunches, BBQ's and wedding catering all get great reviews.  With our own fully licensed 100 seat meeting, dining and event venue in Attercliffe, Sheffield we can host brilliant occasions from corporate training days to special private dining lunches and dinners.

As well as our passion for excellence in our food we believe that professional service is equally important.  Our team of catering professionals are experts in event planning, taking a unique and personal approach to each project.

As well as sourcing ingredients from the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire area we grow much of our own edible flowers, soft fruit and herbs, and are able to forage in a controlled way from our own plot.

We work closely with our customers, whether business clients, couples planning their wedding or visitors to our shops, to create menus that fit their needs, desires and imagination! No beige buffets!

We make our own jams, pickles, fruit leathers, bread, cakes and biscuits.  You may even have heard of our unique Sheffield Egg and Citrus Hits. Increasingly we are growing more of our own produce, concentrating on more unusual vegetables such as cardoons, black peas and Japanese wineberries to mention a few.  We use many edible flowers including violas, vulcan, borage, nasturtium, and red amaranth for garnishing and seasonal colour.

If you would like to chat to us about any of our services or send feedback, we would love to hear from you.

A Little Bit of History

Launched by Peter Moulam and John Fitzpatrick in May 2006, PJ taste began when we opened our first shop at 249 Glossop Road in Sheffield.  We now run a full external catering business as well as our own 120 seat private dining, meeting and event venue in Attercliffe, Sheffield.

We wanted to make delicious food using locally sourced ingredients, alongside serving the excellent Bei & Nannini espresso coffee which we imported direct from Luca in Tuscany.  We take great pride in being one of the first local businesses to genuinely support the growers and producers in the Sheffield and Yorkshire region.  Our meat comes direct from farmers in the Rivelin Valley, Whirlowhall Farm and Moss Valley in Sheffield; our milk and cream from Our Cow Molly in Dungworth; and our eggs from Aston Springs Farm in Sheffield.  Groceries are sourced from Lembas in Heeley and organic Yorkshire Flours and Oats from Carr House Farm in Driffield with amazing Yorkshire cheeses from award winning cheese mongers Cryer and Stott.

Both Peter and John have their own allotments, and Peter is also a keen forager with a great interest in edible wild plants.

Since 2006, the team and the business has expanded and we are fortunate to work with and for some amazing people.

Highlights have included becoming the caterers of choice for the Chimney House, feeding the Artic Monkeys, developing an event and delivered hospitality business, meeting Russell Senior (ex Pulp guitarist) who flew in one day bearing Birch bark syrup, providing wonderful menus for many weddings, and opening retail cafes at Dearing House for Learn Direct, The Quadrant at Parkway Avenue, The Site Gallery Brown Street and the Technology Centre on the Advanced Manufacturing Park.

Growing and Foraging

Our local sourcing ethos extends to growing our own soft fruits, edible flowers, rhubarb, lettuce and vegetables. We often harvest and pick just hours before serving. This is freshness guaranteed! Getting outdoors and seeing what is growing in Sheffield and the surrounding areas also gives us a connection to the seasons and challenges us to make the best of local, seasonal resources.

You can find some of our foraging stories on our blog.
