What a week!

Foraging activity has been sadly curtailed this last week by pressures of work – we catered for 2 weddings, a host of events (including another stimulating E3 event and some snap for Sheffield Wildlife Trust) as well as opening a new outlet – PJ taste @SiteCanteen.

The only pink fungi in the UK

Given that absence makes the heart stronger I have been looking ahead to another opportunity to learn more about fungi with the extordinary Ziggy.  A couple of years ago I joined an autumn guided mushroom hunt organised by the Sheffield WIldlife Trust.   Ziggy was the guide who turned out to not only have a great knowledge of fungi but also an unwavering nose for these mysterious organisms.  I had such an enjoyable day that I am keen to repeat the experience this year and heartily recommend it to you too.  Details below.

The good news on the outdoor front this week was reprieve for my allotment.  Although its been quite productive this year, encroachment of weeds has made is look a little unkempt and lead to a threatened eviction order from the Council Allotment office.  However, an undertaking to rotavate with vigor in the next few weeks has prevented this drastic action.  Until this threat I was aware of just how attacted I had become to this field of dreams!

Heres the joining info for the fungi walk with Ziggy:
